Today’s post is in honor of our Mom, who survived a heart attack when she was 31 years old. Neither of us was around then, but Ella helped her recover and turn her life around. Since we’ve been in the picture, Mom has been following her passion and protecting her heart health by managing stress, eating whole, plant-based foods, and being physically active.
February is American Heart Month, which is a great time to learn more about cardiovascular disease and get your numbers (blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar) checked. You should also be aware of your family history and learn the signs and symptoms of heart attack, which can differ in men and women.
Celebrate National Wear Red Day with us today to raise awareness of heart disease in women.
Did you know that heart disease is the number one threat to women? More women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined, but only 44% of women recognize that cardiovascular disease is their greatest health threat.
Mom certainly didn’t know until after she had her heart attack. Now, it’s her mission to help others lead heart-healthy lives. She’s running a Heart Health Challenge that starts on Sunday. You can join for free here. Now, go put some red on. We’re ready!
